Tracie Hitz

"Hitz and Mrs."
This is a journal of what I'm learning from the successes and failures in all facets of my life, including the search for my husband (Mr.) and my always-evolving career. I realized those two parts of my life are actually intertwined so the experiences have given me a completely new insight about what I want and how I'm going to get it.
I use these experiences to be a friend providing support through their relationships, as well as a mentor providing career guidance in the sports industry. By sharing on this blog, I hope to continue learning from my experiences, as well as those who are willing to share here too.
The first year I posted a blog everyday. Now in year two, I post on the days that start with T, so look for new posts every Tuesday and Thursday.

Head softball coach Kate Drohan created a purple cow at Northwestern. She was inspired by my favorite author, Seth Godin, and his book, “Purple Cow”. Being part of her team inspired me to be remarkable not just in my job, but in my personal life too.

In 2012 I started to notice the conversations with my friends having dating problems sounded eerily similar to what I was discussing with some of the young professionals I mentor in the sports industry.  This got me thinking about all the similarities there are between finding a boyfriend/girlfriend and finding a job, so I decided to start blogging about these observations.

That’s what I do.  Make observations. Provide a sounding board. I don’t know what’s best for everyone so I don’t give advice, I share experiences and ask questions that hopefully helps them figure out the right path for them professionally and/or personally.

There have always been two sides to me: Fun Tracie and Serious Tracie. This blog is the combination of both so I hope you will share with me as I “provoke, create a ruckus, experiment, fail, repeat, learn, succeed.” - Seth Godin

I started this blog on Valentine’s Day in 2012 and set a goal of posting my thoughts 365 days within that first year.  I set that goal in part so I could improve my writing skills so I can finish writing the dating book I’ve been working on, so now my goal is to finish writing that book before Valentine’s Day 2014.  In order to dedicate more time to that, I will only be posting on the days that start with “T” … quality over quantity this year!  I hope you will continue on this journey with me.
